Constant Dull Pain In Upper Stomach

I would like to share my story about constant dull pain in upper stomach here. Hopefully it could help someone.

Detail Symptoms

A while ago I had been having constant dull pain in my upper stomach for about four weeks. Eating food or taking antacids helped relieve the pain, but the symptoms came back after a while. It felt like something upset my stomach. It was uncomfortable and made me really worried and keep thinking if my stomach got serious issues.

Root Cause

Finally I decided to go to the doctor for my stomach. Now I'm really happy I did this. It took only five minutes to meet the doctor. Then I was asked to take a blood test. The result came out next day. And I was told that I was having h.pylori-bacteria in my stomach. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a kind of bacterium that lives in the lining of the stomach. Many people have H. Pylori in their stomachs and do not develop problems. But sometimes H. pylori causes an upset stomach or a sore (ulcer) in the stomach lining. Most  stomach ulcers are caused by H. pylori. Symptoms of an ulcer include gnawing or burning pain in the belly that can last minutes or hours. Eating food or taking antacids helps relieve the pain, but the symptoms can come back after a while.

Follow-up Care at home

My doctors sent me some antibiotic medicines to take. Other than than that she also sent me the instructions to guide me how to care for myself at home. Here they are:
. Eat a healthy and balanced diet.
. Eat a smaller meals, and eat more often. Be sure to eat at least three meals a day.
. Avoid heavily spiced or greasy foods.
. Do not drink beverages that have caffeine if they bother your stomach. These includes coffee, tea and soda.
. Do not smoke. Smoking slows the healing of your ulcer and can make an ulcer come back.
. Limit how much alcohol you drink. Alcohol can slow healing of an ulcer and can make your symptom worse.
. Wash your hands after going to the bathroom.
. Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, or other anti-inflammatory medicines, because they can irritate the stomach.

Hope the information above could help you a bit. Have a wonderful day!
